According to scans from the upcoming issue of Famitsu, Square Enix is remaking SaGa 3: The Ruler of Space and Time-Shadow or Light – a.k.a. Final Fantasy Legend 3 – for DS.

The game is a full 3D remake complete with new cutscenes.

Siliconera, which posted the scans, said the class system from the original has been updated, and it allows you to change classes on the fly by equipping cyborg parts from defeated enemies or from eating strange meat.

Last year, Square released a DS remake of  SaGa 2 (Final Fantasy Legend 2) for the 20th anniversary of the series.

As far as we know at the moment, the SaGa 3 remake is for no special occasion, other than “just because”.

Expect to hear more about Final Fantasy Legend 3 once the Famitsu issue hits shelves later this week.

Hopefully, we’ll also find out when or if it will see a release outside of Japan this winter.
