EA Maxis to reveal Spore RPG at Comic Con on July 24

Organizers of San Diego Comic Con updated the event’s website today with panel information for Saturday, July 24.

Interestingly enough, one of the panels will reveal the new game in the Spore series.

According to the listing (via BigDownload), the panel will feature members of EA Maxis revealing “a brand new, Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore.”

This could possibly be Darkspore, which was trademarked back in May, as well as the new Spore title for consoles and PC announced during EA’s financial call to investors back in February.

We’ll send EA a mail, but more than likely we’ll all just have to wait on the July 24 surprise.

Other game-based panels scheduled the Saturday include: Guild Wars 2, Red Faction Armageddon, God of War, Epic Mickey with Warren Spector on hand and more.

The sold out event takes place July 22-25 at the San Diego Convention Center, and panel information for Thursday and Friday can be found here and here.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. For more information, go here.

  • Darkspore will be unplayable from March 1

Darkspore will go, uh, dark next week.

  • Darkspore reinstated on Steam

Darkspore is once more available on Steam. The action RPG returned to Valve’s digital distribution service overnight. EA has not explained its temporary absence, which added fuel to speculation that support for the game had ended. EA has pish-poshed such talk, noting that Maxis recently corrected a nasty error.
