Bilson: THQ "had very serious conversations" with Respawn

THQ was in "serious conversations" with Respawn's Jason West and Vince Zampella following their exit from Infinity Ward, Danny Bilson, the publisher's VP of core games, has confirmed.

The exec told IndustryGamers the talks took place after the pair was "shopping around" following being fired as heads of the Modern Warfare developer back in March for "insubordination."

"I probably shouldn’t talk about that publicly," said Bilson, "but Jason [West] and Vince [Zampella] and I had a lot of very serious conversations during that time."

Respawn went on to sign with EA Partners for its new IP.

Bilson added that THQ Partners announcements will be of similar "calibre" as Zampella and West.

THQ Partners currently has Tomonobu Itagaki and Valhalla Games Studios' Devil's Third on its books.

Bilson told VG247 in an interview at E3 the upcoming announcements from THQ Partners will "blow your mind."
