Nintendo staying committed to DS

nintendods

Nintendo has said that it’s "still very much committed" to supporting the current DS, despite announcing its new 3DS last week.

Speaking to CVG, a Nintendo rep said, "In terms of DS support we're still very much committed to the platform and to making new and interesting titles for it."

The new 3DS is backwards compatible; any DS game will work on the new device.

Nintendo’s rep said DS has a strong line up of it’s own this year: "Dragon Quest IX, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, Golden Sun, Pokemon Ranger and Mario vs. Donkey Kong – were all new titles shown at E3 last week."

So even if you do plan on upgrading you'll have some pretty decent titles to play until it gets here.

3DS will be released before March 31 2011.
