masseffect216

As promised, EA has launched the demo for Mass Effect 2 on Xbox Live and PC, allowing new players to sample the delights of one of the most popular games released this year.

The new demo features the first two missions of the game as well as one bonus mission, giving newcomers 90 minutes of  game play.

Players who have yet to play the game, will be brought up to date with a “Story-so-far” video, narrated by actor Martin Sheen that provides a recap of past events and plot twists in the Mass Effect universe.

Once played,  anyone wanting to carry over their character along with the experience points, story decisions, achievements and weapons earned will be able to do so, allowing them to picked up right where they left off , on both PC and Xbox 360.

“Mass Effect 2 is one of our greatest achievements to date at BioWare,” said  BioWare's Ray Muzyka. “The Mass Effect team continues to deliver on our promise to add exciting new content to the universe for our loyal fans, and we’re also excited to be able to give all gamers a chance to experience this amazing game through a free demo."

A new game add-on called “Overlord”, adding five new areas and two new achievements will be made available June 15 for 560 Microsoft points.
