Bethesda expects Fallout: New Vegas to sell better than FO3

Bethesda seems confident that Fallout: New Vegas will do better at retail than Fallout 3.

Speaking with MCV, Bethesda's Pete Hines said that early response at retail and from gamers has led it to believe it will top its predecessor.

“Based on what we’re seeing so far from the response at retail and from gamers, we expect New Vegas to do even better than Fallout 3,” said Hines.

“We’ll have to wait and see just how much better. We’ve built on the strengths of Fallout 3, what we know worked and added a whole new host of features and touches that further improve the experience.

“Take all of that to a new setting like Las Vegas, which is a great fit for the Fallout brand, and it gives us every reason to believe this can be a huge success for us.”

Fallout 3 sold 4.7M copies worldwide its first week, and also blew away previous iterations' numbers combined within two days of release.

New Vegas is slated for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in the fall.
