IGN's Matt Casamassina takes up new job at Apple

Senior IGN editor Matt Casamassina's announced he's left the website to take a new, specially created job at Apple as editorial manager of the firm's App Store.

The well-known Nintendo expert, who has been with the site since 1997, made the announcement on his blog.

"In a nutshell, I will be leading the charge for games on the App Store," he said, "so whether you browse through iTunes, iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, the games content you see will be hand-picked and organised by me and my team. I couldn't be happier."

He said that if there was any one company that could lure him away from writing all things Mario and Zelda-related, it was the house that Steve Jobs built.

"Anybody who has read my work through the years will know that I’ve long been a huge Nintendo fan, but if there is one company that could entice me away from covering Mario and Zelda it’s the one owned by Steve Jobs."

Good luck to him, innit.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
