Valve tired of “shitty party games,” doesn’t want them anywhere near Natal

Valve loves it some Natal. “Really cool,” the mega-dev called Microsoft’s secret weapon in the motion wars.

As for the games that’ll likely litter the device’s lineup, however, Valve’s not quite so optimistic.

“Hopefully we’ve gotten past the point of mini-games,” Valve writer Chet Faliszek told CVG. “I’m sick of that [makes arm movement]. That’s not a game for me anymore. Let’s get some real interaction going.”

“We have these technologies now that let us interact in different, really exciting ways. It’s developers’ jobs to do something with it. Impress me. Don’t just make shitty games I wouldn’t want to play if I had to use a joystick.”

Tell ’em, preacher! But what’s the use if Valve’s not practicing what it so strongly evangelizes? Well, good thing Faliszek also said this thing:

You won’t have to make the arm movement of sawing off a zombie’s head in some tiresome mini-game. I can promise you that.”


Um, we mean, that’s cool! Yeah! You didn’t just obliterate any of our long-held dreams or anything! Sawing zombies to bits with our bare hands? Man, who needs that noise? Booooring.
