The Last Story is a "very-Sakaguchi-san like title", says Kitase

The Last Story

The Last Story looks like a Final Fantasy rip-off, right? Not so, according to FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase.

More of a Hironobu Sakaguchi game, innit.

"It's a very Sakaguchi-san-like title," he said to Kotaku.

"I don't really feel like the name The Last Story really overlaps with Final Fantasy because Sakaguchi-san probably just wanted a simple straightforward title that Japanese users can pick up and understand."

Nearly six years ago, Sakaguchi left Square Enix and the Final Fantasy series to start his own developer Mistwalker, which is making The Last Story.

The game was revealed last month at a Nintendo meeting, although nothing else on it was revealed other then the logo you see above.

It'll be out in Japan by the end of the year. FFXIII, meanwhile, is due out on March 9 in the west.
