Vomit-inducing stat time: Microsoft's claimed that Live users have notched up enough hours on its online gaming service to account for two for every person on earth.

"In seven years, Xbox Live members have spent more than 17 billion hours on Xbox Live," said MS's Trixie360 on Twitter.

"That’s more than two hours for every person on the planet!"

As G4 points out, that’s about 2 million years, or around 850 hours for every one of the current 20 million-plus Live subscribers.

We don't really know what to say.

Patrick Garratt is a games media legend - and not just by reputation. He was named as such in the UK's 'Games Media Awards', the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. After garnering experience on countless gaming magazines, he joined Eurogamer and later split from that brand to create VG247, putting the site on the map with fast, 24-hour a day coverage, and assembling the site's earliest editorial teams. He retired from VG247, and the games industry, in 2017.
