Kaplan "definitely involved" in next-gen Blizzard MMO

Speaking to MTV, WoW game director Jeffrey Kaplan has confirmed that he’s “definitely involved” in Blizzard's "next-gen" MMO.

The developer even dropped hints as to the identity of the new game, although they were highly vague.

"A lot of it has to do with art style, too," he said, talking of WoW's success.

"Are you going for realism or an inviting world? And once you learn those lessons, I think any type of [intellectual property] can survive. I’m shocked we haven’t seen more sci-fi, near-future, post-apocalyptic, historical MMOs; there’s all these completely different fantasy settings beyond the traditional high fantasy ones.”

When asked if the new game was set in sci-fi, near-future, post-apocalyptic or historical universes, Kaplan joked, “All of those combined!”

More through there.
