Rare was working on Avatars "before Miis were part of gaming scene"

Speaking to Eurogamer, Rare's claimed that Avatars - one of the major upgrades to be included in Xbox 360's New Xbox Experience - were in the works before Miis were a twinkle in Nintendo's eye.

"It was an idea we had, even before Miis were part of the gaming scene, of putting these characters that you have an affinity with, not necessarily as part of the Xbox dash, but somewhere in the Xbox that you would play multiple games with, that you would have multiple experiences with that same character," said Rare art head Lee Musgrave.

There's still no date on the release of Avatars for 360, but the rumour's November.
