Pokemon movies break ¥50 billion barrier in Japan

According to this Variety report, Nintendo’s Pokemon movies have now grossed more then ¥50 billion ($455 million) in Japan, making them the most successful animated features in the country’s history.

The Pokemon movies started in 1998, the first of which took $85.7 million in the US in 1999, a record for a Japanese film that has yet to be equalled.
