Yep, The Who did play the Rock Band E3 gig in LA tonight, with frontman Roger Daltrey pointing out between tracks that rhythm-action games may be the saving grace of the commercial music industry.

Daltrey told the crowd that “new music games are good” because the record industry’s “fucked,” saying that games like Rock Band are a good way “to get people to listen to music these days.”

The ageing rocker was quoted yesterday as saying he found Rock Band boring, so it appears he’s changed his tune somewhat.

The band played a long set – including Tommy tracks – at the Orpheum Theatre, South Broadway.
