EA apologises over Northern Ireland anthem gaffe

EA has been forced to apologise to Northern Irish politicians after it included The Soldier's Song as the country's national anthem in UEFA Euro 2008. The tune is the national song of the Republic of Ireland.

"At EA Sports, we pride ourselves on delivering rich and authentic videogame experiences," said EA's Shaun White. "We sincerely apologise for this error."

"Any apology on this matter is most welcome," said the Northern Irish sports minister, Gregory Campbell. "Obviously there's has been a lack of knowledge on the makers' part and hopefully it will be changed as soon as possible.

"Perhaps this will be the only time supporters want to see Northern Ireland lose."
