GRID gets Oxford Street launch event

Codemasters has confirmed that Race Driver Grid will get a full London launch, to take place at zavvi on Oxford Street on May 30.

There’s going to be a fastest lap event, and the winner on the day will win a 3-series BMW. This isn’t bad, by any stretch of the imagination, so get yourself down there and have a go. Apparently the game’s quite good, so you could do worse than buy a copy as well.

The highlight of the day will be the grand final of the European Fastest Lap Challenge, which has seen legions of gamers fiercely competing to set their best time on Spain’s Jarama circuit. Gamers are advised to bring their best driving gloves along and prepare for some tough competition.

For those who want even more of a challenge, then members of the Race Driver: GRID development team will be on hand to compete against visitors to the store, in a series of “Beat the Developer” sessions being held throughout the day.

Finally, the first 100 people to buy a copy of the game from the Oxford Street store receive an exclusive key ring and T-shirt.†

Race Driver: GRID is coming May 30th (Europe/PAL) for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Games For Windows®. A Nintendo DS™ edition will follow, please visit www.racedrivergrid.com for more details.
