LucasArts has announced a worldwide release date for its forthcoming Star Wars title, Force Unleashed.

The game will be available across all formats, releasing in the US on September 16 and three days later in Europe.

The game is set between chapters III and IV - Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope - and will set you in the guise of Darth Vader's secret Padowan apprentice, a man tasked with ridding the galaxy of leftover Jedi.

The 360 and PS3 versions will take advantage of LucasArts' new "Ronin" engine and the Euphoria system - based on a full simulation of the 3D character, including body, muscles and motor nervous system - used in GTA IV.

The Wii version will feature Wiimote lightsaber action, and PSP will also get something extra called the 'Historic Mode'.

Only five months and 16 days to go.
