Wii leads Japan arms race, DS drops back

From January 28 to February 4, Japan's hardware charts shifted around fairly significantly, the big shock being that DS dropped down to third place while Wii surged ahead on the back of Smash Bros. Brawl's 820,000 sales. Whatever. We doubt Nintendo minds.

  1. Wii - 94,473
  2. PSP - 72,528
  3. Nintendo DS - 67,472
  4. PlayStation 3 - 41,796
  5. PlayStation 2 - 12,115
  6. Xbox 360 - 6,060

After garnering experience on countless gaming magazines, he joined Eurogamer and later split from that brand to create VG247, putting the site on the map with fast, 24-hour a day coverage, and assembling the site's earliest editorial teams. He retired from VG247, and the games industry, in 2017.
