Yacht Club Games, comprised of ex-Wayforward developers, has taken to Kickstarter to in order to fund its new 8-bit actioner, Shovel Knight.

Double Dragon Neon director Sean Velasco and five more former members of A Boy and his Blob developer Wayforward have jumped ship – pun intended – to form a new indie studio, Yacht Club Games. The new team has not announced any projects yet but has launched a website and Facebook page and will be at PAX East later this month. The six-man crew has a long list of credits including Contra 4, A Boy and His Blob, Thor: God of Thunder, Mighty Milky Way and BloodRayne Betrayal.
