Bleszinski steps up press assault, calls foul on Japan tech story

Update: Looks as though Cliff was misquoted. Hit this for Future’s apology.
Original: Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski has claimed a CVG story constructed around Xbox World 360 quotes is “fabrication,” branding the piece “internet tabloid,” the second time in less than two weeks the developer has publicly hit out at a games site.

UK mag: Resident Evil 5 is less than 8 hours long

Brit mag Xbox World 360′s confirmed that its first play through of Resident Evil 5 lasted less than eight hours.
“As previously stated our first completion time, minus cut-scenes, was seven hours, thirty-six minutes and one second,” the mag said on its blog.
“For reference purposes, the total length of all the game’s cut-scenes clocks in at 80 minutes.
“This time was achieved in single player and on the normal difficulty. This was not a speed-run, nor were we pressured for time, and was not, as suggested, merely the time to complete the first three chapters of preview code.”
There’s more through the link. Resident Evil 5 ships on March 13.

Dead Space: First review is 91%
Britain’s Xbox World 360 mag has published te first Dead Space review, and it’s a wholesome 91 percent score.
Apparently it’s got a “film-worthy” script and “inspired” setting. “It’s Rapture in space: every bit as disturbing, just as meticulously designed and easily as believable,” says the piece.
Good stuff. More on CVG.

Iwata canned GoldenEye XBLA, says UK mag
Scans of the GoldenEye XBLA article from UK mag Xbox World 360 are now available, showing some new screens and apparently blaming Nintendo president Satoru Iwata for the fact the game’s never going to release.
Iwata reportedly said he didn’t want it appearing on any other console under any circumstances, although NOA’s Reggie Fils-Aime was on board with the project. Sounds as though they didn’t get very far, anyway – only the dam level was ever completed.
Take a look at the pages.

Xbox World 360 details GoldenEye piece
Following reports yesterday that Microsoft had rubbished Xbox World 360′s hints that GoldenEye was coming to XBLA, the mag in question has come out of the closet and admitted what it does have on the game in its next issue, out tomorrow.
It’s four pages of screens and some quotes from Microsoft, and it sounds as though they got to play it. Let this be a lesson to you, Xbox World 360 magazine from the UK: unless you speak with absolute clarity your words will be torn apart and you will be destroyed by teh internets. You’re probably sitting there shouting, “But we never said it was coming to XBLA!” You’re probably stamping your little feet. Teh internets don’t care. Happy to help.

GoldenEye for XBLA is bollocks, says Microsoft
Oh dear. From the sound of this, Xbox World 360′s upcoming story on GoldenEye for XBLA is a bit… shit.
“The story in Xbox World 360 is based entirely on rumour and speculation,” said a spokesperson for Microsoft Games Studios. “Unfortunately, we were never contacted by the publication to confirm information or participate in the story in any way, as we would have confirmed that we do not have the necessary rights to release GoldenEye on Xbox Live Arcade.”
Xbox World 360, a UK mag, had said previously that “you’ll find the first ever shots and definitive hands-on details behind one of this year’s biggest stories. Yep, it’s the story the whole world wanted, but only we got – and we unleash it next Wednesday in Xbox World 360.”
We think we should just start calling this sort of thing “GameProing,” as in “Xbox World’s GamePro’d GoldenEye XBLA.” Or maybe not.
