Red Faction: Armageddon delayed; Saints Row 3, Space Marine get release windows

Ever sat around waiting for someone to build a house of cards so you can leap out, do your best impression of Godzilla, and send it crashing to the ground – cards quickly sponging up your friend’s salty rush of tears as their defeated pitter-patter gives your life meaning? Well, this is kind of like that, except THQ’s taking a little longer on that whole building part.
Wait, you haven’t done that? Oh. Well, um, neither have we.

WWE-THQ partnership renewal deadline extended
What’s going on here, then? THQ’s just announced that the WWE’s extended a deadline for renewing its license to make wrestling games based on the IP until December 31.
THQ’s “noted that WWE’s action provides the company with increased flexibility with respect to the renewal of the videogame license.”
Assuming the renewal goes ahead, THQ would get another five year’s worth of WWE games, with the license running out on December 31, 2014.
Doesn’t sound like the most solid thing in the world though, does it? We’re asking for THQ for comment.

THQ wins WWE royalty dispute

After an inhumanly long period of butting heads with partner Jakks Pacific, THQ has finally prevailed, according to Gamasutra.
The in-fight was waged over a contract dispute, which has now, obviously, been ironed out. An arbitrator gave the nod to THQ, saying that Jakks is now entitled to six percent of sales from WWE wrasslin’ games — a significantly smaller chunk of change when compared to the ten percent it received before the dispute.
With that out of the way, it’s all peace, love, and dove between the corporate tag-team partners, right? Nuh-uh. Jakks and THQ are now trading lawsuits over WWE contract extensions.
And that, children, is where videogames come from.

THQ files suit against WWE partner over contract renewal

THQ has filed a lawsuit against Jakks Pacific, its World Wrestling Entertainment licensing partner, saying the company was not authorized to extend the WWE contract.
Toy maker Jakks notified the WWE it planned to make good on what it felt was an option to renew the videogame license, which is the foundation for THQ games Smackdown vs. Raw and Legends of Wrestlemania.
THQ has since objected because the company feels Jakks does not have the authority to make the decision for both parties.
Currently, the contract between the three firms is set to expire on December 31, but a renewal would extend it through to December 31, 2014.
This is not Jakks and THQ’s first time visiting a courtroom together. WWE recently lost a courtroom battle with the two, citing antitrust, bribery, and conflict of interest, and THQ has also sued Jakks at one time for royalties over the WWE series.

WWE star wants “more violence” in games
Too funny. WWE wrestler Randy “PR nightmare” Orton has told Eurogamer that there isn’t enough violence in videogames.
“Violence sells. I want to see more violence in games – the more blood the better,” he said, arguing that games were the least of parents’ worries, when some “don’t know their kids are watching South Park”.
He cited Goodfellas as evidence that movie violence could be far more shocking than anything in a game, calling Grand Theft Auto “just a cartoon” in comparison.
“The violence [in Goodfellas] is against human beings. There’s rape in movies – you see all kinds of f***ed up s*** on film,” he added.
