World of Tanks is currently in beta on Xbox 360 and during gamescom, VG247′s Sam Clay was able to try the strategy MMO out for himself and have the service options explained to him by Wargaming West.

Wargaming has announced it will be attending gamescom next month, where attendees will be able to get some hands-on time with World of Tanks and World of Warplanes. According to the firm, World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition will be playable and a “multitude of eSports related events” will also be happening during the show. The Wargaming booth will also be hosting live stage shows, developer Q&As, and prizes will be handed out. If you are attending, be sure to stop by the firm’s booth in Hall 8.1, Stand A-030. If you can’t go, Wargaming’s gamescom activities will be livestreamed in German, English and Russian.

World of Tanks will be going into beta for Xbox 360, and Wargaming is accepting applications. An Xbox Live Gold account is required to participate in it. The game will be free-to-play with an XBL Gold memberships when it launches this summer, but Silver members will be able to try out a demo to see if it warrants a Gold membership for them. Wargaming is celebrating the second anniversary of World of Tanks with a sale on tanks and components from now until April 16. Users can also pick up XP bonuses, and participate in special events. Players will also receive a “one-day premium account bundled with a selection of consumables,” says PCgamesN. Players can redeem the code 2NDBDAYTANKS through the World of Tanks website. There’s plenty more where that came from, so check out all the bonuses through the link. The Featherweight Anniversary Tournament is also going on for those in Europe, and the prize is gold and premium tanks, and there’s also a Razer’s Edge competition where the winner can win a trip to Paris. Those in the US can also pick up a selection of tank bundles until Sunday, April 14.

Wargaming has announced details for World of Tanks Update 8.5, which adds more medium and light tank goodness to both the German and the Soviet tech trees. Changes have also been made to the in-game economy, meaning all players will ow be able to purchase premium consumables with silver credits. In addition, all players, both paying and non-paying, will be able to create three-member platoons and companies. The update also comes with one new map, Pearl River, and three existing maps will get revamped visuals and shading effects, including Siegfried Line, South Coast and Malinovka. The UK tech tree will also get the Sexton, a premium SPG with a fast firing speed and quick reload times. A release date was not provided in the press release.

World of Tanks Update 8.4 will include new machines for those who like to use the British and Soviet tanks. But never fear, German tank lovers: a new light armor tree is coming your way, so you were not forgotten. World of Tanks is not only getting armored, Chinese military vehicles with update 8.2, but a new set of achievements and game mechanics according to the patch notes. Along with various fixes and bug squashing, the update will add new sound effects, the ability to use fallen trees as cover, and an improved draw distance. The patch is substantial, along with its notes, and you can read them in full over ob PCGamesN. Update 8.2 is estimated to be released in December.
