Activision has announced it’s filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Worlds Inc. and Worlds Online Inc., with the US District Court in the Central District of California. The suit claims that Worlds has “infringed, and continues to infringe, US Patent No. 6,014,145″ which covers: “navigation with optimum viewpoints in three-dimensional workspace interactive displays having three-dimensional objects with collision barriers.” The lawsuit also covers US Patent No. 5,883,628 covering “Climability: property for objects in 3-D virtual environments.” The contested product is software distributed by Worlds called “Worlds Player.”
Worlds Inc. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Activision-Blizzard and Activision Publishing back in March 2012 claiming World of Warcraft and Call of Duty violated its patent. The case is still pending with the US District Court in the District of Massachusetts.

World of Warcraft publisher Activision Blizzard is to appear in court next year over patent infringement claims by Worlds Inc. The lawsuit claims that Blizzard’s MMO infringes on several patents for MMO tech created by the company.

Activision is being sued by Worlds Inc, claiming it has infringed a patent belonging to the latter in relation to Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. Worlds Inc says the patent Acti infringed is linked to “systems and method for enabling users to interact in a virtual space,” with WoW and CoD linked to the patent.
