Wargaming has launched its Unified Account System for World of Tanks and World of Warplanes. The system promises players will no longer have to pay for “premium status in every project,” as the system spreads benefits across the company’s other titles. This will also give players access to all MMOs developed by the company using a single portal, thus logging you into all other Wargaming-related projects, including partner and fan websites using secure OpenID authentication.

Wargaming has announced it will be attending gamescom next month, where attendees will be able to get some hands-on time with World of Tanks and World of Warplanes. According to the firm, World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition will be playable and a “multitude of eSports related events” will also be happening during the show. The Wargaming booth will also be hosting live stage shows, developer Q&As, and prizes will be handed out. If you are attending, be sure to stop by the firm’s booth in Hall 8.1, Stand A-030. If you can’t go, Wargaming’s gamescom activities will be livestreamed in German, English and Russian.

World of Warplanes’ open beta launches today in Russia and North America. Those in Europe can get in on the action Thursday, July 4. Wargaming has acquired BigWorld, an Australian middleware company for $45 million. The World of Tanks developer said the acquisition will “make internal development more efficient,” while help the firm reach its $200 million a year revenue goal as it also prepared World of Warplanes for launch. “BigWorld has a licensing business of its own, and we will continue to support its customers,” Wargaming boss Victor Kislyi told VentureBeat. “We will be in a position in the future, if everything goes right, to offer the combined BigWorld and Wargaming technology to anyone who wants to do an MMO.”

Wargaming.net has released a third developer diary for World of Warplanes. It’s below. Closed beta testing for World of Warplanes started on May 31, and as of March, over 100,000 had signed up for it alpha testing. That number is likely higher now.

Wargaming.net has announced closed beta testing for World of Warplanes will start on May 31. If you have yet to sign up for the beta, you can do so here. In March, the firm announced that over 100,000 had signed up. Players who have applied, but have not been yet accepted to Global Alpha, will have a priority for closed beta.
