Those who are users of the engineering profession in World of Warcraft will soon be able to create a robot pet in-game. According to a post from Blizzard on the matter, a future patch will add the ability to create the little fella based on the mascot for J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. All players will be able to use the pet, and there’s no word at present on what materials will be needed, how much the finished product will cost, or whether it will be cosmetic or useful. Head on through the link to have a better look at it.

Blizzard has never implemented such a system before and is looking for testers to check it out on the public test realm and make sure it’s working properly before going live; more details are available in a developer blog post.

Blizzard working on a new Battle.net client for OS-X
A new job ad suggests Blizzard is planning a “next generation Battle.net Desktop Client on OS X”. That’s probably only of interest to those of you with powerful enough office Macs to sneak in a few quick World of Warcraft quests between meetings, but it’s interesting that it’s described as a “next-gen” client. To enter the remote realm of Wild Speculation for a few minutes, perhaps Blizzard will appear at an Apple event showcasing a new iMac range, or launch a universal client across Mac, PC and consoles with Diablo 3. Back in reality: oh good, a better Battle.net client for Macs.
Thanks, Superannuation.

World of Wacraft and expansions on sale
Blizzard is throwing a serious sale on World of Warcraft. The core Battle Chest, which includes the first two expansions, is just $5; Cataclysm is $10 and latest effort Mists of Pandaria is $20. The sale heralds patch 5.2, called The Thunder King, which is due later this month, although if this is your first WoW experience I don’t fancy your chances of ploughing through all this content before it drops. World of Warcraft is free-to-play up to level 20, and then requires a subscription.
Thanks, Massively.
