World of Tanks Update 8.4 will include new machines for those who like to use the British and Soviet tanks. But never fear, German tank lovers: a new light armor tree is coming your way, so you were not forgotten. Some visual tweaks will also be made to the maps Ensk, Fisherman’s Bay, Live Oaks and Steppes, while a new tutorial covering everything new players need to know will be included as well. Wargaming today announced that World of Tanks Update 8.3 is now live in Europe and Southeast Asia. The update includes 17 new tanks for the latest nation added to the game, China. The lower tiers of the new tech tree also feature various foreign designs, including the first Japanese-made tank in the game, the Type 97 Chi-Ha. A number of original Chinese tank models, “some of which never went into mass production,” are also featured in the higher tech trees. North-American players will get the update on January 17, and testing of the new tech tree will start in Korea on January 21.

World of Tanks update 8.2 from Wargaming is loaded with new tanks and updated maps, including more American and Premium vehicles and four updated maps.

World of Tanks is not only getting armored, Chinese military vehicles with update 8.2, but a new set of achievements and game mechanics according to the patch notes. Along with various fixes and bug squashing, the update will add new sound effects, the ability to use fallen trees as cover, and an improved draw distance. World of Tanks has 40 Million registered users worldwide, according to an announcement from Wargaming. This number is twice as big as the game’s previous milestone set in early 2012.

Wargaming has acquired BigWorld, an Australian middleware company for $45 million. The World of Tanks developer said the acquisition will “make internal development more efficient,” while help the firm reach its $200 million a year revenue goal as it also prepared World of Warplanes for launch. “BigWorld has a licensing business of its own, and we will continue to support its customers,” Wargaming boss Victor Kislyi told VentureBeat. “We will be in a position in the future, if everything goes right, to offer the combined BigWorld and Wargaming technology to anyone who wants to do an MMO.”
