World of Tanks Update 8.6 is now available in Europe and will roll out to the rest of the world later this month. Southeast Asia will see the update go live on June 20, while American and South Korean players will get the update on June 25 and July 4, respectively. The latest update brings further changes and balance to the in-game economy, as well as adds new SPGs to Tier X. Along with the new artillery units, Update 8.6 also adds a new premium British tank, the A33 Excelsior, as well as a new battle arena-Sacred Valley, based on a Korean setting. A video is below.

World of Tanks will be going into beta for Xbox 360, and Wargaming is accepting applications. An Xbox Live Gold account is required to participate in it. The game will be free-to-play with an XBL Gold memberships when it launches this summer, but Silver members will be able to try out a demo to see if it warrants a Gold membership for them. Wargaming has announced it will offer Xbox 360 players a free trial of World of Tanks to Silver members of Xbox Live. While a Gold membership will still be needed to play the free-to-play game online at launch, this way everyone can try before they buy. World of Tanks will release on Xbox 360 this summer. Wargaming is asking World of Tanks players to change their passwords after a “security incident” occurred in which player email addresses and hashed passwords may have been compromised. No financial information was compromised. As an incentive to change user passwords, and likely a ‘sorry for your trouble’ type of thing, Wargaming is giving players who change their passwords 300 in-game gold. Thanks, Eurogamer.

Wargaming is celebrating the second anniversary of World of Tanks with a sale on tanks and components from now until April 16. Users can also pick up XP bonuses, and participate in special events. Players will also receive a “one-day premium account bundled with a selection of consumables,” says PCgamesN. Players can redeem the code 2NDBDAYTANKS through the World of Tanks website. There’s plenty more where that came from, so check out all the bonuses through the link. The Featherweight Anniversary Tournament is also going on for those in Europe, and the prize is gold and premium tanks, and there’s also a Razer’s Edge competition where the winner can win a trip to Paris. Those in the US can also pick up a selection of tank bundles until Sunday, April 14.

Wargaming has announced details for World of Tanks Update 8.5, which adds more medium and light tank goodness to both the German and the Soviet tech trees. Changes have also been made to the in-game economy, meaning all players will ow be able to purchase premium consumables with silver credits. In addition, all players, both paying and non-paying, will be able to create three-member platoons and companies. The update also comes with one new map, Pearl River, and three existing maps will get revamped visuals and shading effects, including Siegfried Line, South Coast and Malinovka. The UK tech tree will also get the Sexton, a premium SPG with a fast firing speed and quick reload times. A release date was not provided in the press release.

NVIDIA has announced plans to host a World of Tanks International open tournament. It will be held in Asia Pacific, China, Europe, Russia and the Americas where the best seven-member teams will compete for with the best out of three games the winner. The tournament will last for four weeks before Grand Finals where up to $100,000 in prizes will be offered, along with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 600 card.
