Legacy of Kain and Wolfenstein domains registered
Well, would you look at this: Square Enix has registered a domain pertaining to the Legacy of Kain series. Dug up by Superannuation, the domain registration for warfornosgoth.com was filed on Thursday, February 7 through CSC Corporate Domains, Inc. Crystal Dynamics is rumored to be working on a reboot of the series. On top of that, the same domain company registered a domain for the new Wolfenstein title that is rumored to be in development at ZeniMax Sweden. Color me excited over both prospects. Hit up the links for a look yourself.

Everyone too young to remember what a revolution Wolfenstein 3D was should probably check out this startling de-make, Wolfenstein 1D. Yes. One. Maybe the mind-boggling reduction of a fully realised game world to a single-pixel line will give you some idea of the amazement we felt at the time.

August NPD: Wolfenstein sells 106k on all formats combined
Raven’s Wolfenstein’s moved 106,000 units in the US, a combined figure for all formats, Gamespot reports.
Not the best. It’s worth noting that Raven laid off 30-35 staffers the day after the game shipped.
Still. It’s got the best German accents in any game ever. And we should be thankful for that.

Wolfenstein multiplayer dev sees layoffs on launch day

Just as Endrant Studios finished pushing Wolfenstein out the door, the big bad wolf that is financial troubles came and blew the developer’s house down. Or part of it, anyway.
“We have recently completed a development cycle and have regrettably been forced to make adjustments to staff and headcounts,” a company rep told GamesIndustry.biz.
“Those affected are valued members of our team who have worked incredibly hard on our latest title. We hope that they land on their feet quickly.”
Wolfenstein was the (formerly) 17-person team’s first game. We join the rest of Endrant in hoping those who now find themselves unemployed don’t stay that way for long.

Wolfenstein: Designer will pay for your copy should the game outsell Madden 10

Raven Software designer Manveer Heir has tweeted that if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August, he will personally reimburse you for your copy of Wolfenstein.
We saw this yesterday and honestly thought it was a joke.
Apparently, not.
Here’s the tweet:
Here’s the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) – SPREAD THE WORD
Here’s the clarification tweet:
And so everyone knows I’ll be using the NPD numbers to determine if we outsold Madden 10 – but anyone can be reimbursed worldwide.
Madden may be hard to beat in the US, honestly, but we suppose it’s worth a shot.
To get reimbursed, you must also follow him on Twitter, and it’s only valid for one copy.

id Software to ban those with illegal multiplayer build of Wolfenstein, or worse

A multiplayer build of Wolfenstein was leaked last week, and id’s pretty upset about it.
So much so, than anyone who admits to having it will be banned from the forums, or possibly paid a visit by Acti’s legal department.
“It was brought to our attention on Friday, 7/31 that a build of the Wolfenstein Multiplayer was leaked and is now being distributed illegally through breach of NDA and mirrors posted on the internet. I must warn anyone involved that Activision’s legal department is taking this matter very seriously.
“Same applies here on the forums. If you mention that you have acquired this build, you are openly admitting to illegally obtaining the build and will be banned straight away. You have been warned.
“With regards to any footage, screenshots and comments posted here and all over the internet, an important thing to keep in mind is that these were not created from a build of the game that was final or consumer ready.
“There’s nothing we can do about it now except continue working on the game.”
The game is expected to hit retail sometime next week around August 17.

Wolfenstein multiplayer details revealed by Endrant Studios

Endrant Studios has detailed the multiplayer aspects of for Wolfenstein, and the multi-part includes eight maps, three classes, unlockables, veil powers, and other goodies.
“Players can enter the veil dimension and use veil powers much like the ones BJ has access to, as well as all the standard weapons and items,” said Endrant’s Matt Wilson to GameSpot. Players will not be able to slow time using veil powers in multiplayer like they can in single-player.
“In multiplayer, you’re not BJ–you’re a member of either the Resistance or the Axis, and you play as one of three roles: soldier, medic or engineer,” he continued. “We wanted to keep the three roles distinct, so we gave them their own unique veil powers that are specific to their responsibilities within the team.”
Along with unlockable weapon and power upgrades, multiplayer also includes eight maps spanning three modes.
“In Objective mode, the attacking team tries to complete one or more objectives in the map while the defending team tries to stop them,” said Wilson. “In Stopwatch, you do the same but swap over at half-time, and the attacking team which completed the map fastest is the overall winner.
“The unlocks for each give you options on what to upgrade and when, but you can only have one unlock per category (weapon, item, veil power, etc.) active at once,” explained Wilson. “Some of the choices you’ll have to make are things like power versus accuracy, reload time versus recoil/muzzle kick.”
Game’s out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 August 18.
Thanks, Shack.
