It’s ships-ahoy in the new batch of WipEout 2048 screens as the Sony Vita low-G racer celebrates the WipEout HD and Fury expansion packs launching on the handheld. The packs bolster the number of tracks available via the title’s cross-play functionality and players that have already purchased these packs for PS3 will be able to download them on Vita, free of charge, via the Cross-Buy feature.

Those in the US can download PSone classic Tomba as well as the release of WipEout HD and WipEout HD Fury as expansion packs for WipEout 2048 on Vita. Tomba will run you $10 on PSN, and the WipEout goodies will run you $7.99, and it also includes an additional 12 crossplay tracks outside of the original four tracks included in WipEout 2048 for “simultaneous multiplayer action on your PS3 and PS Vita.” It’s free on Vita if you already own the PS3 versions. Shack reports the Vita versions of Hustle Kings, Motorstorm RC, WipeOut 2048 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will all support cross-platform purchases. Buying either Hustle Kings or Motorstorm RC on the PlayStation Network will grant you access to both the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions, while DLC can be shared across between Wipeout 2048 and Wipeout HD, and both versions of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Sony has released ten new videos from its PS Vita showcase event, held at Vita Hill Social Club in San Francisco recently. Below the break you will find 11 videos for: Uncharted – Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Escape Plan, Hot Shots Golf, Hustle Kings, LittleBigPlanet, Reality Fighters, Little Deviants, Super Stardust Delta, Unit 13, and WipeOut 2048 for good measure. The latest Famitsu is saying Wipeout 2048 will now appear as a post-launch title for Vita in Japan: the mag says the racer will now release on January 19 in the country, a month after the handheld’s December 17 green-light. The other big title due in January for Vita in Japan is Tales of Innocence R. Also mentioned in the mag is confirmation that Gravity Daze, coming from Silent Hill and Siren creator Keiichirō Toyama, will release in February.
