Watch Dogs has been one of the most anticipated titles since it was announced during E3 2012. During the developer session at the Eurogamer Expo, Ubisoft Montreal discussed the latest on what’s set to be one of the biggest games of the holiday season.

If you’re planning to pick up Watch Dogs on current-gen machines, prepare yourself for a mandatory install. Ubisoft has confirmed the requirement, although the size of the install has not been confirmed. The game will also ship on two discs. “It’s the same thing as GTA,” said creative director Jonathon Morin.

Watch Dogs is set in a fictional version of Chicago, and creative director Jonathan Morin has compared its scale to that of Grand Theft Auto 5′s Los Santos. It may not be as big in terms of sheer mileage, but Morin promises the world of Watch Dogs will offer “huge density.”

There’s been a fair bit of chagrin that the majority of next-gen launch games are cross-gen, which a handful marked as ‘true’ next-gen. Alain Corre, executive director at Ubisoft, is having none of it, and has stated that the first wave of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games are of a higher standard than any previous launch line-up.

Those confused on how to upgrade their PS3 games to the PS4 version once the console is released, even with all the news posted on the matter here of late, need not be confused after all – because Sony has posted a tutorial. As announced during PlayStation’s gamescom press conference, players will be able to upgrade digital versions select games, for a low discounted price if if they own the PS3 version. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 are the supported titles for this program. When you buy the Blu-ray Disc or digital version for PS3, you can nab the the PS4 digital copy for $9.99. Hopefully we’ve covered everything on this by now. Ubisoft and Nvidia have announced a collaboration to deliver an enhanced experience on PC for recent and upcoming titles like Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, and Watch Dogs. According to Nvidia boss Tony Tamasi, the company has worked closely with Ubisoft’s development teams to incorporate Nvidia “technologies and deliver the most immersive and visually spectacular game worlds imaginable”, including “the best resolutions, the smoothest frame rates and the latest gaming breakthroughs”. More specifically: TXAA antialiasing, which provides Hollywood-levels of smooth animation, soft shadows, HBAO+ (horizon-based ambient occlusion) and advanced DX11 tessellation. The big man in Ubisoft Europe Alain Corre has told MCV that pre-orders for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of both Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed 4 are outpacing those of the current-gen console version of those games. He says this leads him to believe this will be a quicker-than-expected console transition.

Watch Dogs has a new video making the rounds in which comedienne, actress, model, gamer, and Ubisoft E3 spokesperson Aisha Tyler stars. In the video, her digital-self is walking down the street chatting away on her phone – the call is being monitored – before she steps too close to what looks like a trash truck barreling down the road. Poor Aisha. Watch below. Game’s out in North American November 19, in Europe on November 21, and the UK receives it on November 22.
