THQ has proudly announced that according to NPD, ELSPA/GfK Chart-Track and GfK figures, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II went top of every PC chart you can think of, including those in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Australia.
“We have built ‘Dawn of War’ into a premier PC gaming franchise based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe,” said Brian Farrell, THQ president and CEO.
“We are pleased with consumers’ strong response to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II across many of our key markets and believe the game’s success clearly demonstrates our primary objective of delivering high quality games with strong global appeal. Warhammer 40,000 is a rich and growing universe and we look forward to expanding our offerings based on this brand in the future.”
It’s about time THQ has something positive to shout about, as reports earlier this month have suggested that there’s a 50-50 chance of the company going bankrupt.

Fancy the thought of a life-size Blood Raven Space Marine guarding your living room? UK residents should head on over to the official Dawn of War II Facebook page and sign up to be a fan: you may just win one of your very own.
Standing over 2 meters (6.5 feet) high, statues are now on-site at five different GameStation stores across the UK. All you have to do is walk up to the thing, take your picture with it, and upload your photo to Facebook page. Then you need to tag yourself and the Space Marine in the photo with the location of the store.
Pretty simple really.
On February 26, the GameStation store that received the most tags will form a panel and choose the winner deemed to be the “most entertaining”. The five participating GameStation stores are:
- Hull – 59-60 Prospect Centre, Hull, HU2 8PW
- Orpington – 79 – 81 The Walnuts, Orpington, BR6 0TW
- Edinburgh – 134A Princes Street, EDINBURGH, EH2 4AH
- Blackburn – 59-61 King William Street, Blackburn, BB1 7DJ
- Stratford Upon Avon – 13 Town Square Shopping Centre, Stratford upon Avon, CV37 6AU

Apparently the now-announced Warhammer 40K RTS sequel Dawn of War 2 wasn’t on show at THQ’s international event in San Francisco today, with THQ saying it will be shown at a separate shindig in the future.
The Relic strategy title has been doing the rounds in magazines recently, despite a protracted release date of “2009″ being as good as it gets right now. Guess you’re just going to have to wait to see is in proper action.
