World of Tanks users need to change their passwords due to security breach
Wargaming is asking World of Tanks players to change their passwords after a “security incident” occurred in which player email addresses and hashed passwords may have been compromised. No financial information was compromised. World of Tanks second anniversary celebration has commenced
Wargaming is celebrating the second anniversary of World of Tanks with a sale on tanks and components from now until April 16. Users can also pick up XP bonuses, and participate in special events. Players will also receive a “one-day premium account bundled with a selection of consumables,” says PCgamesN. Players can redeem the code 2NDBDAYTANKS through the World of Tanks website. There’s plenty more where that came from, so check out all the bonuses through the link. The Featherweight Anniversary Tournament is also going on for those in Europe, and the prize is gold and premium tanks, and there’s also a Razer’s Edge competition where the winner can win a trip to Paris. Those in the US can also pick up a selection of tank bundles until Sunday, April 14.

World of Tanks Update 8.5 adds premium features for F2P users, more German and Soviet tanks
Wargaming has announced details for World of Tanks Update 8.5, which adds more medium and light tank goodness to both the German and the Soviet tech trees. Changes have also been made to the in-game economy, meaning all players will ow be able to purchase premium consumables with silver credits. In addition, all players, both paying and non-paying, will be able to create three-member platoons and companies. The update also comes with one new map, Pearl River, and three existing maps will get revamped visuals and shading effects, including Siegfried Line, South Coast and Malinovka. The UK tech tree will also get the Sexton, a premium SPG with a fast firing speed and quick reload times. A release date was not provided in the press release.

World of Tanks Update 8.3 goes live in Europe and Southeast Asia
Wargaming today announced that World of Tanks Update 8.3 is now live in Europe and Southeast Asia. The update includes 17 new tanks for the latest nation added to the game, China. The lower tiers of the new tech tree also feature various foreign designs, including the first Japanese-made tank in the game, the Type 97 Chi-Ha. A number of original Chinese tank models, “some of which never went into mass production,” are also featured in the higher tech trees. North-American players will get the update on January 17, and testing of the new tech tree will start in Korea on January 21.
