Take-Two confirms “possible redundancies” at Venom Games
Take-Two’s confirmed that previously rumoured problems at internal UK studio Venom Games are a fact, and that staff are currently being consulted on possibly redundancies.
“We are assessing the role of Venom Games in Take-Two’s overall global studio system and are in a consultation with the employees of Venom in relation to possible redundancies at the studio,” the publisher said in a statement issued to VG247. “No final decision will be made until after the consultation with employees.”
CVG first broke the news that the developer was in trouble yesterday.
Venom was most recently responsible for Don King Presents: Prizefighter.

Venom Games to close
According to CVG, the Newcastle-based development team founded in 2003, Venom Games, is about to close.
The firm is owned by 2K Games, and has made Rocky: Legends on Xbox and PS2 and the Xbox 360 version of Prey. More recently, Venom coded Don King’s Prizefighter.
No precise reason for the closure has been disclosed. Another one (unfortunately) bites the dust.

First Don King Presents Prizefighter trailer – knockout
This looks pretty good, and will hopefully do away with the austerity of Fight Night Round 3 as a more “thrilling” realistic boxing title.
There’s a fair amount to see in here, including training mini-games as well as some proper Rocky-style bang-bang. Gamespress is only listing this as Wii and 360 for “spring 2008″, so we’ll have to check that. There’s a press event for it in London next week, so expect to see more very soon.
