Velvet Assassin will retain morphine references
Southpeak’s confirmed that morphine use will definitely play a part in upcoming WWII actioner Velvet Assassin, despite the fact its inclusion will almost certainly impact sales.
Speaking to MTV, marketing manager Aubrey Norris said morphine was “widely used” during the period and it “fits the realism of the game”.
Southpeak was preserving the developer’s “artistic integrity” be keeping the drug in the game, she added.
Morphine use slows down time in the title. A bit like junkie bullet time.
Hate to break this to you, Southpeak, but that’s not quite what happens when you inject morphine. But what the hey. Three cheers for someone ramming some common sense up Australia’s arse.
Thanks, Destructoid.

No Velvet Assassin for PS3, says Gamecock [updated]
Speaking to PSU, a Gamecock rep confirmed that the Replay Studios was not going to bring the World War II stealth action title, Velvet Assassin to PlayStation 3.
“Unfortunately there will not be a PS3 version of Velvet Assassin,” said the representative. “The reason being that Replay Studios started off as a PC development team, then branched into 360 development as the transition was ‘relatively simple’, but their engine does not support PS3.”
In case you missed it, Gamecock was acquired by Southpeak earlier this month.
Update: CVG has just posted some new screenshots.
Update 2: Video added. After the break. Thanks, Superfrog.

Sabotage renamed Velvet Assassin
Gamecock’s Sabotage has received a name-change, and is now called Velvet Assassin.
“Rather than a trite, overused, and generic working title like ‘Sabotage,’ ‘Velvet Assassin’ captures the heart of what we’re trying to accomplish,” said Sascha Jungnickel, creative director at developer Replay Studios. “From the start we’ve wanted a game with a strong female lead that stays true to the history of Violette Szabo while pulling players into a world of dark intrigue.”
The game’s inspired by the real story of British agent Violette Szabo, so it’s all behind enemy lines without support-type stuff. Press release after the link. It’s out this year for PC and “next-generation consoles”.
