Sega permanantly drops PSP prices; Valkyria Chronicles 2 now $10
$10 for one of the most interesting strategy RPG efforts of recent years is almost criminal, but thanks to Sega’s price drops, it’s definitely legit.

Sega refuses to confirm PS3 future of Valkyria Chronicles

During a Q&A on the European PS Blog, Sega has dodged a massive bullet on the matter of Valkyria Chronicles returning to PS3 sometime soon.
Valkyria Chronicles was released on the PlayStation 3 last autumn in the West, but it’s sequel will be on the PSP when it releases this winter in Japan and summer 2010 in the West. But Sega insist it is still too early to talk about the future of the series beyond Valkyria Chronicles 2.
“We’re still developing Valkyria Chronicles 2 so, to be honest, we’re not really thinking about Valkyria Chronicles 3, 4 or 5 at this point. Just in terms of how our team develops titles and our way of thinking when we choose the platform for each of our titles, it’s not necessarily “let’s make a PS3 game!”. It’s more a case of “what kind of game do we want to make?”.
For example, the first Valkyria was on the PS3 because of all the features we wanted to incorporate into the game and we felt the PS3 was the most suitable platform, so that’s how we develop games in our team. So potentially Valkyria Chronicles 3, or another title that we work on next might be on the PS3, it might still be on the PSP, we don’t know at this point.
“Because we’ve already got experience of working on the PS3 and now we’re developing another game on the PSP, that just adds to our level of experience and understanding of these platforms and will definitely help us in determining what is the best platform for the next game that we make.”

Sega release teaser for Valkyria Chronicles 2
Sega Japan’s just put out the first trailer for Valkyria Chronicles 2.
Well, when we say trailer, it’s more like a teaser.
And it seems to show a massive change in the graphics too. Out goes the watercolor paintings of the first game and in come anime cut-scenes.
We prefer the former to the latter.
It’s after the jump.
No Western date yet. It’s out though before the end of the year in Japan for the PSP.
Ta, PRPG.

Valkyria Chronicles sequel announced for PSP

Sega has announced details for Valkyria Chronicles 2 in this week’s Famitsu but instead of coming to PS3 like its predecessor, it will launch for PSP.
The game’s producer, Shuntaro Tanaka, told the magazine that while not “necessarily bound to handheld systems in the future”, the game is coming to PSP “to allow a broader spectrum of users to discover and enjoy what makes Valkyria special.”
Taking place two years after the original in Gallia, with a new threat called the Gallia Revolutionary Army. The government’s military is minimal at best since the previous war, so students at a military school are called upon to take up the slack.
Using the same battle system as before, players will control military cadets, and the storyline is told through the eyes of 17-year-old Avan Hardence. There are also loads more missions than in the first iteration, along with more customization.
Game’s this winter in Japan, with a US and European date to be announced.
