Sony: PS3 firmware 3.0 is the “last major update for 2009″

Do you constantly fret about keeping your PS3 up-to-date and purring like a Blu-Ray-compatible kitten? Well then, you’ll be happy to hear that you’ve got the rest of 2009 off, as PS3 firmware 3.0 is the last major update Sony’s doling out in 2009.
“This is a big and significant update, so you would be correct to assume that [it's the last major update for 2009],” said PlayStation Network operations director Eric Lempel to G4.
He did, however, note that the release of a few smaller updates throughout the remainder of 2009 is still a possibility.

Valve updates Left 4 Dead with a few fixes

Valve has updated Left 4 Dead: changes will go into effect when you log into Steam.
We missed this yesterday. Our apologies.
Mostly a bunch of fixes, but here is the list anyway:
- Fixed sv_search_key appearing in server browser
- Fixed issue where changing the sv_search_key did not update the master correctly
- Fixed master server issue with Linux fork mode that affected availability of Valve dedicated servers
- Tank melee attack can now hit multiple Survivors in one swing
- Missed from the previous list changes: Fixed achievements to match stats. Past achievements not previously awarded will be shown in the game UI
While you are over there, if you are feeling a bit daring, Steam now has Grey’s Anatomy: The Video Game up for grabs.
Sorry, just couldn’t resist.

Noby Noby Boy multiplayer update in the works, must get to Mars first

Keita Takahashiwa is gushing with thanks over player reception of Noby Noby Boy over on the US PS blog, where he also mentions that an offline multiplayer update is currently in the works.
Girl has reached the Moon, but it’s a long way to Mars, he says, so he wants more people to start playing it.
“It would take all the current players a while to reach Mars, so more people have to join in on the fun,” he wrote.
“In the hopes that more people can enjoy the game, we are currently working on an update. A featured addition to the update is going to be offline multiplayer. Some may say, ‘Offline!?’ But it’ll still be fun. Please check it out.”
He also writes about staff reaction to its popularity and being a bit depressed over some of the criticism the game’s received.

Possible Noby Noby Boy update hinted at on official site

The official website for Noby Noby Boy has a teaser image posted which suggests that updates are coming soon.
Possible offline four-player multiplayer mode is suggested with the line “Even though it may be offline… I want to play multi-BOY!”, and new music is also implied with “Guiter music are good but music from castanets, triangles, and maracas is something I’d like to listen.”
Yes, the script on the page spells guitar like that.
Namco declined to comment on any updates when approached by Eurogamer, but the game has 47,685 players so far and GIRL has already reached the moon–hopefully that’s enough to give Keita Takahashi ample reason to create more content.
