Epic’s releasing the huge Titan Pack expansion for the PS3 version of UT3 today, as confirmed on the PS Blog.
The update’s completely free, and will be made available through the PS Store.
There’s a ton of stuff included in the DLC, sch as new gametypes Greed and Betrayal, “the Titan mutator, 19 maps, the Link Station and X-Ray Field deployables, the Stinger Turret and Eradicator Cannon weapons, the Stealthbender vehicle, the Slow Field power-up, and characters Kana and Nova.”
The pack has already been released for the game’s PC version, and won’t make it to the 360 SKU at all.
Considering you can buy the PS3 version for £18 from Play, there’s never been a better time to get involved.

Epic boss Mark Rein’s told Eurogamer that the developer is currently working on a big content update for Unreal Tournament, and that Midway will remain the series publisher for now.
“Midway is still very much the publisher of Unreal Tournament 3,” said Rein.
“In fact, we’re working together on a major expansion to Unreal Tournament 3, that we expect will excite and grow our UT3 customer base which, incidentally, now numbers over a million units sold-through world-wide.”

The game features split-screen play over the PS3 version, five new maps and two new characters.
No user mods, though. Press release after the link.

After the break. This is the multiplayer footage that XBox 360 owners will get with their copies of Unreal Tournament III.
Some great stuff in there, especially when design director Cliff Bleszinski got riled up about “huge gladiators locking onto each other, engaging in this life and death struggle”.
Are you man enough?

As you can see from this listing on Play.com, the Gears of War 2 treat to be included with the 360 version of UT3 is, in fact, video content.
It’s out in July according to this listing, although we’re not sure Midway’s ever announced a date for it.
There’s no indication as to whether or not the video’s new, but it looks like we’ll know soon enough.

Midway’s Las Vegas Gamer’s Day’s now been and gone and there are lots of words on the internet about it. Looks as though nothing terribly dramatic got announced, the most interesting thing in the publisher’s line-up being Epic’s Unreal Tournament III for 360 – albeit without user-generated levels – for release this summer. Here’s what you/we missed:
- Blitz: The League II and casual stuff announced
- No user mods for UTIII 360, impressions
- TNA iMPACT impressions
- Wheelman impressions
- NBA Ballers: Chosen One videos
- Gears of War surprise in UTIII 360, says Rein
- NBA Ballers: Chosen One impressions
- TNA iMPACT videos – one, two, three
- This is Vegas impressions

See it after the link. As you can see, at the end of the video a man who clearly smokes to much pegs the 360 version of Epic’s shooter for a summer release date. According to this IGN piece, it’s going to have split-screen and five new maps over the PS3 and PC versions. The game’s being shown off at Midway’s Las Vegas event this week, so expect plenty of playtests in the not-too-distant future.

Steadfastly aiming to keep the dream alive, Epic VP Mark Rein’s posted on the company’s forum that the 360 version of UT3 is still on the way and may be seen playable soon.
“We don’t have a particular release date yet but we’re going to be playing it with some members of the press in two weeks at Midway’s next Gamers Day in Las Vegas,” he said. “Should be fun. The game is coming along really nicely.”
Rein had previously mentioned that the game was being held up because of Microsoft’s reticence to allow user-made levels up on Live, one of the USPs of the PS3 version.
The shooter’s been out on PS3 since last November in the US.

Epic’s released a three-map pack for the PC version of Unreal Tournament III, available now from the developer’s site. Two of the maps are updates of golden oldies Facing Worlds and Morbius, while the third map, Searchlight, is a new CTF level.

According to this, Epic boss Mark Rein has said that no headway has been made with Microsoft on getting Unreal Tournament 3 working with user-content on Xbox Live.
He said the same thing nearly a month ago. The Xbox 360 version of the game still has no release date.
Not looking so great right now. The shooter releases for PS3 in Europe tomorrow.
