Gears of War, Infinity Blade, Fortnite swag available direct from Epic
Epic has opened a new online storefront, shilling its wares directly to the public. Gears of War, Bulletstorm, Jazz Jackrabbit, Infinity Blade and the upcoming Fortnite are all represented, and as well as your favourite properties, there’s also Unreal Engine and general Epic studio-branded gear. Available merchandise includes t-shirts and hoodies (none in women’s fits, unfortunately), artwork and pre-orders for an upcoming coffee mug. Epic isn’t the first to open a storefront of this kind; Ubisoft and BioWare both front similar initiatives, for example.

Unreal Engine E3 highlights make for good viewing
Head on over to Epic’s Unreal Insider blog if you’re keen for a swift run down on the state of one of the industry’s most ubiquitous development packages. As well as highlighting the recently-revealed Unreal Engine 4, the post includes masses of videos of games shown at E3 built using the current version, Unreal Engine 3. You couldn’t ask for a neater summary of the tech’s scope and portability, really. Go forth.

Unreal 4 makes Samaritan look like “a piece of crap”
Unreal Engine 4 won’t be shown to the public till later this year, but Epic’s Mark Rein has set the expectation bar high by describing it as well beyond last year’s amazing Samaritan tech demo – and wanred console manufacturers that they need to keep up.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock Vita created with Unreal Engine 3
Epic has announced BBC Worldwide and Supermassive Games have licensed the firm’s Unreal Engine 3 technology for development of Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, which will be the first Vita game to utilize the engine’s toolset.

Silicon Knights boss “looking forward” to airing Epic’s “misconduct” in court
A court judge has dismissed the expert testimony of an accountant Silicon Knights recruited to help solidify its case against Epic Games. In response, the firm’s Denis Dyack said the dismissal would be “one of the few rulings that Epic can say went their way.”
