Epic Game Jam competition winners announced for Make Something Unreal Live

September UDK beta adds Mac support
Mac support has been added to the September release of Epic’s Unreal Development Kit, which is a precursor to Mac support in the commercial version of Unreal Engine 3. Other improvements have been added as well. You can view the release notes and download the newer version of UDK through the links.

August UDK beta released, kit has been installed 900,000 times
Epic Games has released the August 2011 UDK beta, which is now available for download. The update includes a movie capture system, material functions, adaptive tessellation, and iCloud document saving for iOS. It also contains improvements to the Unreal Editor, including Unreal Matinee, Unreal Cascade, AnimSet Viewer, the material editor and more. You can get more update details through the notes. There is also a a video below which gives you an inside look at the update. UDK, the free version of Unreal Engine 3 has been installed 900,000 times.

Unreal Development Kit surpasses 50K users in one week

Epic has announced that over 50,000 users worldwide have downloaded the Unreal Development Kit since its launch last week.
“We are very excited to see the uptake of UDK cross over the 50,000 mark in only one week, and we’re looking forward to seeing amazing games and applications come out of it,” said Epic VP Mark Rein.
“We’re also thrilled to finally be able to offer UDK free for schools and students so they can work with the same awesome Unreal Engine 3 tools used by many of the top game developers and publishers around the world.”

Unreal Development Kit released for all
Filefront’s carrying the just-released Unreal Development Kit. This is Unreal Engine 3 pretty much the same tools used to create, you know, games.
Up till now the only way you could get hold of this was by buying a PC copy of UT3 or Gears of War. No longer.
