Uncharted: Golden Abyss gets launch trailer

unchartedvita

Sony’s released the launch trailer for Uncharted: Golden Abyss ahead of its release next week. The trailer’s story-focused and contains a fair bit of gameplay footage. It’s vintage Uncharted stuff with lots of puzzles, climbing and shooting involved. Sony’s lifted the embargo on the reviews of the game, along with the rest of the PS Vita’s launch line-up, as you can see here. Watch the trailer after the break.

Quick Quotes: Naughty Dog doesn’t “know at this moment” what it wants to do next

uncharted3-new

“We never set out to make a three-part [Uncharted] series from the beginning. We have always sort of seen it as a stand-alone adventure, like you are gonna pick up any one of the games and play and out of order. It still makes sense. You can still understand the characters and the plot. Obviously, if you play the other ones, you get more out of it. I have always seen it as a single-part adventure story. We have always said that if we think that we can make something new and interesting, if the fans still want them, then we can make another one. But at this time, everyone is sort of on vacation. We’re trying to recover from the process of making it and I think we will come back together and maybe this month and next month make a decision about what we are going to do next. But we never said how many of these things there will be. There are plenty more stories in the universe. It is just a question of what’s the company interested in doing next. We really don’t know at this moment.” – Uncharted 3 game director Justin Richmond to VentureBeat.

Quick Quotes – Uncharted 3 director on squeezing the PS3

20111129uncharted3

“We were, at any given point, using 100% [of the PlayStation 3's power]. We were using everything we possibly could. There is always room where you find something where you can do the processing in some different way to find more power. There are all of these different ways to squeeze more power out of the box.”

– Justin Richmond, game director on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, speaking to VentureBeat. Naughty Dog famously made the same claim about Uncharted 2 – and then optimised further.

Uncharted novel, comic series get release dates

uncharted3

So, reading. It’s quite the thing, apparently. While Kinect, Move, and their ilk try to do away with controllers as much as possible, reading requires only a pair of un-blinded eyes. Pretty wild, huh? Being the trailblazer that he is, Nathan Drake hopes to tame this amazing technology using a two-pronged attack composed of comics and a novel.
