Amazon cuts price of 160Gb PS3 bundled with Drake’s Fortune

ps31b

Amazon has cut the price of its 160Gb PS3 bundled with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune by $50.

Effective only in the US, the price now sits at $449.99, leading some to speculate that the cut is in direct reference to clearing inventory for a new slim model as well as a price cut.

GamesCom is just around the corner so, hopefully, the chickens we sacrificed last night will encourage Sony to confirm or deny theses reports at the event.

If not, at least we will eat for another week or so.

Rumor: Matthew McConaughey to star in Uncharted movie

imamassivetool

Oh dear.

An anonymous tipster has told ThePlaystationNetwork that Matthew McConaughey is in talks to star as Nathan Drake in a film based on the Uncharted franchise.

The source did not give the site any more information than that, but considering Hollywood loves to make movies based on games, the prospect shouldn’t be too shocking.

First Uncharted movie details published

uncharted.jpg

Kotaku’s put up the first proper details of the upcoming Uncharted movie, saying the film will take its time to get to the island and that Nathan Drake won’t be a goody-goody like Indiana Jones.

“When it comes to the big screen adventure, [producer Avi] Arad said the plan is to mix things up a little bit. In the game, the action moves very quickly to the island, but the film will open things up a bit and add some depth before the island adventure,” say the piece, adding:

“Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing. Drake is a guy who’s being hauled over to virtue throughout the game”.

More through there.

Uncharted Trophies released

According to this PSBeyond story, Naughty Dog’s released its Trophy patch for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Apparently, “The file is about 13Mb and contains 47 trophies, 17 hidden ones and one platinum.” Joy oh joy. Go get it.

Incoming Uncharted Trophies detailed

Well, mostly detailed – still no release date, sadly. But Naughty Dog was generous with other details to whet our whistles.

“You’ll be able to get up to 48 Trophies in Uncharted. There are 47 Trophies related to what you do in the game — finding treasures, hand-to-hand or gun combat and the like — and the last one is the Platinum Trophy for getting all the other Trophies,” Arne Meyer, senior manager of marketing and communications at Naughty Dog, told IGN.

Don’t get too excited, though. Every Trophy is tied into Uncharted’s preexisting medal system, which functions nearly identically to PlayStation Trophies and Xbox 360 Achievements. “We didn’t add anything new,” Meyer said. “Sorry!”

Trophies can’t be retroactively unlocked, either; so get ready for another déjà vu-tastic adventure through Uncharted’s lush jungles.

But hey, it could be worse. At least you’re not playing Avatar: The Last Airbender in a desperate attempt to nab as many Trophies as possible. Yet.

Uncharted sequel confirmed?

The Gamekyo translation apparently confirms a sequel to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, but it’s a little sketchy if we’re being honest. It says:

One expected it and Christophe Balestra, vice-president of Naughty Dog, officially confirms it at the time of an interview with LCI: very good Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune will have right to its continuation, of course better according to statements’ of the creators. One awaits the first images and information.

So there we are. We’ll get a comment from SCEE tomorrow.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Trophy patch coming soon

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells has said that a patch to add Trophies to Uncharted has already been submitted for quality assurance and will be with us soon, writes 1UP.

“According to Wells, the patch was ‘incredibly easy’ to implement because the game already contains preliminary support for Trophies via its Medals reward system. He further revealed that these hooks were actually included because Naughty Dog thought Sony would roll out Trophies before Uncharted’s November 2007 launch,” says the piece.

“As with other PS3 titles getting retroactive Trophy support, Uncharted will require those who’ve already completed the game to play through again in order to unlock Trophies, even if they had previously earned every Medal. Wells says this is primarily to prevent people from simply using someone else’s save data to artificially bolster their Trophy collection.”
