Square Enix have revealed that gamers in Australia and New Zealand will receive Sleeping Dogs a day ahead of the UK, as well as an exclusive limited edition.

The European Square Enix blog has given a 2012 release window for the game previously known as Truce Crime: Hong Kong.
The publisher’s purchase of the United Front-developed game – but not the rights to its title and IP – from Activision was announced earlier this week, but no launch date was set.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has said one of the reasons True Crime: Hong Kong was canceled, was due to the firm’s belief that the actioner would not reach “the top” of its genre.

The third game in the True Crime series was planned to hit Hong Kong, focussing on Detective Wei Shen who was assigned to infiltrate the Triad. Unfortunately, the game was axed before it could be released, but this new leaked script gives a hint of just what we missed out on.

VG247 recently caught up with Activision’s George Ngo, associate producer on True Crime: Hong Kong, to chat about the latest outing in the open-world action series.
The game has been in development for three years and is clearly inspired by Hong Kong action movies. It is incredibly fast-paced, hugely violent, and contains lots of truly fantastic swearing.
Our first impression of the game, based on the demo shown to us at a pre-E3 event in London, was that it was definitely one to watch out for when it releases later in the year.
