Nagoshi teases “Project A,” which is probably Yakuza 5

nagoshi project a

A new splash page has appeared this morning, teasing what appears to be the next game from Binary Domain creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and Yakuza Studio. And that’s pretty much it. All we know is it’s something called “Project A.” Besides Binary Domain, Nagoshi and his team are also working on Yakuza: Black Panther 2 for PSP and Yakuza 5 for PS3. We’re going long and saying this is for Y5. There’s a reason the Yakuza website is mentioned but not Binary Domain, right?

Thanks, AGB.

Quick Quotes: SEGA’s Nagoshi on recent wave of developers exiting big firms

yakuza

“I doubt I would leave this company in 10 or even 20 years. It’s not that I’m satisfied at Sega so much as I really owe one to Sega — they taught me how much fun making games can be. Unless something really drastic happens, I’m not going to leave on my own volition. It’s hard to say whether the trend [of developers quitting large firms] is a good thing and for everyone’s best interests, but a creator needs to be someplace where he can shine the brightest, and that’s not necessarily always going to happen by going it alone.” – Yakuza’s Toshihiro Nagoshi to Gamasutra.

Sega’s Nagoshi planning big pre-TGS announcement tomorrow

nagoshi

Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi is set to give a big announcement at a press conference tomorrow, according to Japanese streaming service Nico Nico. It’s all happening at 3:00pm Japanese local time, which is 7am BST. What the announcement is from Nagoshi, who’s currently working on Binary Domain at Sega, is a mystery. New Yakuza? New game altogether that’ll be announced before TGS? All will be known tomorrow.
