Killzone 2 gets 32/40 in latest Famitsu, as does HAWX

Famitsu thinks Killzone 2′s worth 32/40, according to the game’s review in the magazine’s latest issue. The Guerrilla shooter was given 8/8/8/8 by the mag’s panel.
Tom Clancy’s HAWX got exactly the same score, meaning that either Killzone 2 is as good as HAWX, or HAWX is as good as Killzone 2.
The obvious question: is either as good as Halo?

H.A.W.X. promises to open up Ace Combat’s closed gameplay
Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. lead designer Thomas Simon told MTV that although the team respects Namco’s Ace Combat, they feel the gameplay is too closed and promise the H.A.W.X. will rectify that.
“What ‘Ace Combat’ did to the air combat genre is really great,” Simon said. “They [Namco Bandai] really set the basics of that [genre].
“But we felt, in general, it was a bit closed…the frame was too tight and people are getting used to that; we wanted to refresh it a bit, so we opened it via new gameplay features.”
In order to do that, Simon reckons you need to feel part of the world you’re flying around in:
“We wanted to put it in the real world, so you’re not fighting in places that have no emotion,” he explained. “If I’m fighting above Washington, it means something more to me. That was a real choice.”
Ubisoft announced today that Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. is to be released for PC, 360 and PS3 in March.

HAWX delayed, says Ubi: No it isn’t, says Ubi
Bit of quick confusion here. Ubisoft sent out a release schedule earlier this afternoon listing combat flight sim Tom Clancy’s HAWX as a Q1 release. Eurogamer reported this as a slip – the date was listed in red on the schedule, meaning it had been amended – posting a story saying the game wouldn’t be seen before April next year, or the beginning of Ubi’s fiscal first quarter.
Ubi got it wrong, basically. A rep just did a mass mail to apologise for the “a lot of confusion in regards of the release date of HAWX.
“This is to confirm that the game is planned for released on calendar Q1.”
Step down to DEFCON 3, open up the mountain, etc.

HAWX delayed until 2009, BiA: HH moves to September
According to this CVG piece, Tom Clancy’s HAWX has been delayed from the end of 2008 until next year.
It’s not the only Ubi game to take a tumble, apparently. The site’s also reporting that Gearbox’s Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway has been pushed back to September 26 from an anticipated August release.
No reason has been given for the delay of either game.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX gets amBX
Ubisoft and Philips confirmed this afternoon that upcoming flight-shooter Tom Clancy’s HAWX will be amBX enabled.
If you recall, amBX and Ubisoft announced a deal at CES in January, the first part of which was to see the Philips sensory tech applied to Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway.
“Tom Clancy’s HAWX comes hot on the heels of our Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway amBX announcement with Ubisoft and further underlines our commitment to bringing amBX to world class gaming. Building amBX into the game during development maximizes the effects that can be achieved, guaranteeing an incredibly immersive gaming experience,” said Jo
Cooke, amBX, CMO.
“Tom Clancy’s HAWX is another example of a completely different genre of game that amBX can enhance and we’re looking forward to super realistic air combat lighting, wind and rumble effects that PC gamers haven’t been able to experience to-date.”
