THQ Gamer’s Day 08: Baja “has 300 miles of unrepeated terrain” in one race
Speaking to The Eurogamer TV Show at the THQ Gamer’s Day in San Francisco, 2XL’s Robb Rinard explained that dirt-racer Baja has a track over 300 miles long.
“It’s actually honest to goodness 300 miles of driving through never-repeating terrain,” said Robb. “You never seen a game where you can drive – A to B – and never touch the same piece of terrain twice.”
“It’s our biggest technical achievement,” he added. “It took us three years to pull this off.”
Baja will be out for 360 and PS3 in the autumn.

THQ Gamer’s Day 08: Volition – “GTA and Saints Row 2 and then everybody else”
Talking with EGTV’s Johnny Minkley at the THQ Gamer’s Day 08 in San Francisco, Volition’s Scott Philips said that GTA and Saints Row 2 will be ahead of the pack by the end of the year.
“We think there is going to be two dogs at the end of this,” he said. “You’re going to have GTA and Saints Row 2 and then everybody else.”
Philips added: “You have a GTA vs Saints Row 2 type thing going on. We’re going one way, GTA’s going the other way and the greatest thing about this year for open-world fans is that you’re going to have both.”
“[Rockstar's] going with the realistic, we’re going for the hyper-realistic.”

THQ Gamer’s Day 08: Baja – AI “will drive your car while you make a sandwich”
In an interview with EGTV’s Johnny Minkley, 2XLs Robb Rinard has revealed that upcoming racer Baja will allow you to hand controls over to the AI if you need to go to the bathroom or make a sandwich.
“Real life intervenes: you’ve got to go to the bathroom, the phone rings,” said the developer.
“In multiplayer you can bring up the in-game menu and hand off your car to an AI driver and he’ll drive your car while you go make a sandwich.”
Without wanting to state the obvious, doesn’t that leave the way open to, you know, cheating?
Baja’s will hit the PS3 and 360 this autumn.
