Nintendo has updated its eShop offerings for North America with The Wonderful 101, Toki Tori 2+, Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link and a demo for Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl which will be made available on September 16. The Wonderful 101 has received a European launch trailer ahead of its August 23 launch. It hits North America on September 15. The clip shows Earth’s heroes pummelling giant mecha dragons and tanks with their Unite Morph abilities. It’s quite epic.

During the Nintendo Direct session today focused entirely on Platinum Games’ The Wonderful 101, the game’ combat system was explained along with the announcement that demo is now available through the eShop in Europe and Japan. No word on when it will be coming stateside just yet, but the game is out in North America on September 15. You can watch a the Nintendo Direct session and another video for the game below.

Nintendo has announced the games it will be bringing to gamescom later this month, and those attending will be able to get there hands on titles such as Mario Kart 8 for Wii U and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds for 3DS.

Nintendo of America has encountered difficulties securing a US trademark for The Wonderful 101. The Platinum Games title apparently sounds too similar to “The 101″, a previously filed trademark, although Nintendo has argued that its own mark is unlikely to cause confusion as the “wonderful” bit is the most memorable of the three components. The Wonderful 101 won’t need DLC because Platinum Games has already put everything it can into it, according to project lead Hideki Kamiya. “We put all we want to do in 101 so you don’t need DLC, I think,” the outspoken developer said on Twitter. The Wonderful 101 is coming exclusively to Wii U in August and will be about 20 hours long – with lots of replayability.

Nintendo Direct sessions for North America and Europe contained quite a bit of interesting information on the firm’s upcoming Wii U and 3DS titles for summer. During the event, the biggest take away was when Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the next three Sonic titles to be released from SEGA will be exclusive to Nintendo systems.
