Pokemon Rumble U’s second wave of NFC figures have been revealed by The Pokemon Company. The figures can be scanned into the Wii U game using Nintendo’s GamePad controller, much like the figures in Disney Infinity or Skylanders.

Pokemon X & Y were announced for an October 3DS launch yesterday in a furore that made our site’s traffic stats blow up – almost literally. If you missed the announcement, screens and trailer then go here first. The Pokemon Company has since explained why the game is coming to Nintendo’s handheld, rather than Wii U.

If you picked up Pokémon Black or White 2 (or even both), don’t forget to hook up your console to the Intertubes and grab a free, exclusive Pokémon, the frankly disturbing Genesect. There’s a brief teaser video of the Bug and Steel type through the break. US fans have until November 12 to grab Genesect, while Europeans have to wait till October 12 to get their paws on him.

The local arm of Nintendo has confirmed Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 will release in Australia and New Zealand on October 11. The DS titles are playable on 3DS, and will be supported by Pokémon Dream Radar, a 3DS eShop release of the same date allowing players to collect Pokémon for transfer to the core game. The RPG sequels have already sold 2.3 million units in Japan and arrive in the US on October 7 and in Europe on October 12.

Andriasang reports Pokémon Black & White 2 lived up to its pre-order promise by managing 1,618,621 first week sales in Japan – and as the DS sequel launched on a Saturday, it did it in just two days. According to Enterbrain data, it’s the third best DS launch of all time, and is the first game to sell a million units in first week sales this year – on any platform.

Siliconera reports Pokémon director Junichi Masuda has hinted a new game announce may happen soon. Speaking to fans at a Q&A event, and later following up on Twitter, the developer said those keen to hear about ne games should watch Pokémon Smash, a weekly Japanese TV show. No announcement was made during Sunday’s episode. Despite Gamefreak’s protestations, several signs point at an upcoming Pokémon Gray followup to 2011′s Black and White, possibly for 3DS.
