House of the Dead: Overkill sold 45k in US last month

hotdoverkill

According to this Edge report, Sega sold through 45,000 copies of House of the Dead: Overkill in the US last month.

The game launched February 10.

NPD analyst Anita Frazier said it had placed about 50th in the US chart for February.

The new will be encouraging for Sega, especially as Wii-core brother MadWorld appears to be flopping pretty hard: the Platinum game charted at an eye-watering 34 in the UK last week.

House of the Dead: Overkill is sweariest game ever, says Guinness

houseofthedeadoverkilla2

Guinness has claimed House of the Dead: Overkill contains the most uses of the word “fuck” in a game.

The Wii shooter uses it 189 times, “which equates to just over one per minute and three percent of all words spoken in the game,” according to a press release this morning.

“Parodying the profane excess of grindhouse cinema was Headstrong Games’ objective and I am flattered that this record acknowledges that we not only rose to that challenge, but entirely exceeded it,” said script-writer Jonathan Burroughs.

GC08: The House of the Dead: Overkill details and media

that Sega has now officially confirmed that The House of the Dead: Overkill will release on Nintendo Wii next year and MCV has a few details of the game.

“The series is getting a new retro look, with distinctive graphics, sound and attitude that will add to its horror cool status,” said Sega.

“Plus, thanks to the Wii Remote, players will fight off zombies when they get too close; pistol-whipping jaws off and smashing in skulls with their shotgun butt.”

Also, IGN has publish the first few screenshots of the game which look very shooty-shooty zombie-zombie. All good.
