Lucasarts has announced the Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition.
Set for a holiday release on PS3 and Xbox 360, Ultimate Sith Edition combines The Force Unleashed and three new levels to create an evil storyline of the events that occurred between the two Star Wars movie trilogies.
The additional content includes two levels set on Coruscant and Tatooine previously only available via direct download, and an exclusive level available only in the package.
The exclusive level concludes the Infinities storyline set up in the Tatooine mission, as the Secret Apprentice is sent to the planet Hoth to crush the Rebellion once and for all.
While on Hoth, players face Luke Skywalker while visiting locations seen in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
No exact date yet, but it will arrive just in time for the holiday shopping extravaganza.

The most anticipated Star Wars game in years – The Force Unleashed – is coming soon, with a PSN/XBL demo coming even sooner. Matt Shell, Marketing Manager at LucasArts, says we should mark our calendars for August – though for now, you’d be best served circling the whole month.
To make up for the lack of a concrete date, Shell noted that the demo will feature a unique ending, since “Coming Soon!” and a list of bullet points don’t really offer much in the way of closure. Even more enticing, the ending will be demo-only, while the retail release will likely continue the game in a more traditional manner.
The Force Unleashed looks to be shaping up nicely, and we’ll be sure to let you know when the demo lands.

Here. Looking good. Gave us goosebumps, and we hate Star Wars. Watch. Now.

This Joystiq report confirms that the Star War: The Force Unleashed team has been closed down by LucasArts now the project’s been completed. From the story:
We spoke with one now ex-member of the team, who told us that the layoffs came just as work on the game was wrapping up. Our source, who wished not to be named, is one of several long-time members of the LucasArts talent pool let go, many of which had worked on titles including X-Wing, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango.
Mass lay-offs were partially confirmed at LucasArts earlier this month. More through the link.

On Gaming Today. Don’t watch it if you want to stay pure. The video shows how Vader gets his apprentice, apparently, so you’ve been warned.
The game’s out in September.

We hate Star Wars, but the movie after the link shows a game that makes our personal feelings irrelevant. The video shows all the various versions of The Force Unleashed in action, cut with interviews with development staff, and ably displays why die hard Star Wars cynics are probably going to be playing this along with everyone else this September. Apart from anything, it has to be one of the most impressive PS2 games ever made. Be sure to look.
