The Elder Scrolls Online developer Bethesda has cast a bunch of new gameplay screens out into the wild. They show off some characters up close, combat and various locations from the game’s vast world.

Zenimax Online has issued another round of beta invites for The Elder Scrolls Online. If you registered to test the upcoming MMORPG, be sure to check your spam folder over the next few days. This test is quite a small one, though, so don’t be too alarmed if you don’t get in this time; the developer has promised more and larger testing events over the coming months. The Elder Scrolls Online is expected to launch this year.

Many site have gone live with play impressions of The Elder Scrolls Online, and some of the information we’ve gleaned is as follows: its supports first-person gameplay; the UI is “minimalistic”; quests are instanced very subtly; and the combat will be similar to the PC versions of Skyrim or Oblivion. The Elder Scrolls Online will be playable at PAX East, should you be attending the Boston show this weekend. As well as sending staff to appear in a number of panels, Bethesda is making the MMORPG the focus of a special event, with competitions, food, music and more. Full details are available on the Bethesda Blog. The Elder Scrolls Online launches on PC later this year. PAX East runs March 22 through 24.

As a person who is relatively new to MMO gaming, the Holy Trinity (damage, healer, tank) is still a fresh concept to me, and I am not tired of it. But others don’t feel that way. Bethesda hears their cries, and are creating a game that does contain trinity roles without necessarily requiring them all to be present for 4+ person group content.

Bethesda has announced that later this month, it will start sending out closed beta invites The Elder Scrolls Online for those who have signed up. If you haven’t yet, now’s the time. The Elder Scrolls Online has added a new story to its collection, telling of the rise of Daggerfall Covenant ruler High King Emeric. This is the third instalment in Zenimax Online’s series, with previous episodes introducing Aldmeri Dominion queen Ayrenn and Ebonheart pack leader Jorunn the Skald King. The Elder Scrolls Online is expected in 2013 and is taking beta sign ups.

A video for The Elder Scrolls Online has been released by Bethesda. In the MMO, the Aldmeri Dominion, Daggerfall Covenant, and Ebonheart Pact at war, but at one time the Alliances got along, seemingly. Zenimax Online has released a second short story from The Elder Scrolls Online, This one is all about Ayrenn, The Unforseen Queen, who leads the Aldmeri Dominion. This alliance of High Elves, Wood Elves and Khajiit claim an inherited right to the Ruby Throne and for all their talk of patience and selflessness don’t have any allies among the three human races. Head on over to The Elder Scrolls Online to check out the first of a series of short stories introducing key characters and lore for the upcoming MMO. Today’s offering is about Jorunn the Skald-King, leader of the Ebonheart Pact which includes Argonians, Dark Elves and Nords. The story is presented as it would appear in-game, on a discoloured book; bless, they certainly take this seriously. The increasingly interesting MMORPG is due in 2013.

Zenimax Online invites all fans to name an NPC character in The Elder Scrolls Online. The Nameless Mage is part of a quest detailed in a new blog post, and whoever comes up with the best appelation will not only see their creation used in the finished MMORPG, but also score an “awesome prize pack”.
